The last couple of weeks have been a bit of a rollercoaster haven’t they? The jubilant highs of the football, and the lows of not managing to see it through. The fun of our Lusso Brunch’s first event and now having to endure yet again more July rain… will it ever end? And while we wait for the sun to return we do still have tables outside so that when it is dry, we can still benefit from the fresh air and outside heaters. Plus we are already taking bookings for our second Lusso Brunch in August!

Our specials menu this time around has taken into account the fact that the temperature has dropped and includes a few more comfort meals, but with the strong flavours and tastes of fresh Summer produce. Starting off with the Roasted Pork Loin Tonnato with tuna sauce, capers & shallot pickle has the light and filling pork with the cutting tastes of the pickle leave a burst of flavour in your mouth. If it’s a pizza that tickles your fancy, one of our sous chefs was given the task of creating this menus pizza and it’s a twist on a classic! Our Chorizo Pizza topped with San Marzano Tomatoes, Feta and Rocket has all the markings of a classic flavoursome base but an added twist of the feta, making it cheesy and filling while on our classic stone-baked base.

For our pasta we have the Confit Chicken Casarecce with Confit Garlic, Mascarpone, Chives and Parmesan. This sounds like it would be heavy and thick, however the mix of these ingredients creates a really creamy but fresh flavour so you can enjoy the whole dish without that horrible weighed down feeling you get after some pastas, plus it can also be made gluten free. The fish this week is a favourite that we have had previous iterations of, but is loved by those who taste. The Pan Roasted Sea Bass with Pork Cheek Ragu and Sage, a great one if you love sea bass to start with, and has the taste testers (owners) seal of approval (meaning he ate it all and didn’t let anyone else try any). The biggie of this menu and one we definitely urge you to try on your next visit while it’s still here is the Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb with Crushed Potatoes, Sun Dried Tomato and Black Olive Jus. When we tell you you’ll fork slap anyone that tries to take a bite off your plate …… the flavours, the texture, the way it melts in your mouth is just something else!

Then last but not least something we’re pretty well known for, our desserts. This special is the Vanilla Panna Cotta with Strawberry Compote & Strawberry Gelato served in a martini glass. We know it’s not all that sunny but strawberries taste the best this time of year and we couldn’t help but add some hope for better weather in the form of fruit. The panna cotta makes a great base for the tartness of the fruit additions and maybe this way even if we can’t sit in the sun, at least we can eat it!
