Spring Has Arrived With Something For Every Palate & Artichoke on Pizza? – Bi-Weekly Specials

You heard us right, we put artichoke on a pizza and you’re going to love it. Well Spring has finally Sprung and although there may be some April showers on the way, we have tuned into the freshly cut grass feeling for this specials menu. Remember when your parents used to force you to eat your greens? Well now it’s not your parents, it’s us, and thankfully it doesn’t take too much persuasion. With a wide range of tastes on this one, we have really taken the ‘fresh’ theme to all types of dishes from Chicken to Mussels, all the way to Cheesecake and Rigatoni (not together, obviously). 

Let’s start with the last one, the dessert, because to be honest it’s the one we dived in first to try. Light and lemony, the Limoncello Cheesecake with Caramelised White Chocolate and Madagascan Vanilla Gelato will have disappeared past your lips before you can say “pass me the spoon”. The breadcrumbs adds a little more crunch to the bite and the lemon flavour isn’t too overpowering. It really is a super deluxe dessert. takes another mouthful… you know, for research purposes….

Onto the savoury courses – we start with Shetland Mussels with San Marzano Tomato and Nduja. You would usually expect mussels to have a white wine or white sauce, but we went for the tomatoey flavours with a little kick, because, well why not. And on the other end of the spectrum, the Crispy Pork Belly Bites with Blossom Honey & Chilli Dressing, less spicy than the Nduja but still a good flavour. It’s sticky and sweet with that crisp and crunch you expect from pork, and the soft ‘belly’ all mixed together.

Now when you say Artichoke and Pizza in the same sentence, you get that feeling of looking at a pizza menu and going ‘um .. just the pepperoni please’ because everything else feels too complex. Well this time we ask you to trust us and our refined tastebuds and dive into this one. The Pizza Alla Ricotta with Grilled Artichokes, Courgettes and Wild Garlic Pesto is a little bit of a ‘secret garden’ of things you didn’t realise went so well together.

Sticking with the fresh and light theme, the Smoked Haddock Rigatoni with Mascarpone, Dill, Capers, Peas and Crispy Kale is for those who like a white sauce dish with a little salty sprinkle from the capers and the fish. You’ll find yourself prepping another mouthful before you’ve even finished the first, it’s a ‘one of each thing on the fork’ situation. Then for the die-hard carne e pollo fans we have the Proscuitto Wrapped Chicken Breast with Ricotta & Spinach, Pecorino Polenta, Grilled Broccolini, Pancetta & Onion Jus. The most sophisticated dish on the menu but with a tasty filling inside the meat that makes it again, a little lighter than you would first expect. 

And since we did the last one first then somehow we have come back to the beginning. Or the end….. And if you want a second helping of cheesecake we won’t judge you.
